Sketches 22 through 28

Nothing particularly monumental for this update, but a lot of character sketches for my favorite created character, my original roleplaying girl, Cometnatia. ^-^ I'm planning to start doing minicomics, 1 to 5 pages, with her as the main character. But I also have to develop a few more cast characters...I already have one in mind, but I'm not sure how to draw her. :/ Anyways, lots of stuff in here I like, so please enjoy my mass update of mostly Comet.

1-22-06
Sketch of Tasja's Christmas Card
Colored version unavailable, but colored and complete.
I love drawing kimonos, but be warned, you may see more in the future.

1-23-06
Daisuke Andou.
Please ignore the writing at the bottom. This was after looking at and attempting to kind of mimic nemesae's style, but it's not meant to look like I tried to steal it or anything. I really like how he came out, especially for a sketch done in geometry.

1-24-06
Cometnatia in the Park
This was more of an outfit design than a sketch of the actual character. I really like her shoes, even though they're something she would not normally wear. I'm not sure I like the top, but I love her hair. Also, those dots on her face are freckles. I'm trying to decide wether or not I like them. :/

1-25-06
Cometnatia(?) in a falling off Kimono
XD I don't think you can really a kimono this way. Comet's got the same Japan addiction I have.

1-26-06
Two people hugging
It wasn't actually meant to be a guy and a girl, it was meant to be a girl and a girl, but I decided to change it because I don't draw guys often enough. I don't really like him, but the girl's ok. I have a habit of over-drawing the folds in the blanket though. >.<

1-27-06
Cometnatia v. God's Kitchen
This is what Comet wears to go out for a night on the town with her friends.

1-28-06
Inked Cometnatia
I really like how this turned out, especially her Converses. :) Sorry she isn't colored, I really want to try and color her on the computer, so look out for her again next update.

Sketches 10 through 13

1-10-06
The Death.
Incomplete, 2 hours off and on. (Originally from 2003)
Don't remember much about this, except it was the first in a series I only drew one other though. The folds look funny, but I'm pleased with the overall presentation.

1-11-06
Another Realism Study.
25 minutes, complete.
I'm pleased. Cat and Dani are good, but Caitlyn doesn't look so good. :(

1-12-06
Angel Waters.
Complete, 45 minutes in a car.
I like this one a lot, proprtions aren't great, but the concept is good. Drawn last summer. >_< I'm not very good at this sketch a day thing. ._.

1-13-06
La-La the Angst Panda.
Rough Draft, colored version also available. :D 4 hours for this and the completed color version. Inspired by Roux off of some website that I don't remember.

Sketches 8 and 9

Just to let all <strike>five</strike> three of you who read this know, I have decided to update once a week. While updating once a day is cool, it's impractical if I actually plan to get ANYWHERE with my art. I've decided to update once every week, the chosen day being Saturday. I feel as though this puts lets pressure on me to get everything done and cropped, resized, uploaded, and update my journal. Also, I think it gives me more time to discuss my works through comments (hint hint). Thanks to all two of you who support me though, it really does make it worthwhile. *grins*

So after today, every Saturday I will update with seven sketches. Except for this weekend when I will only have four sketches. Hey, you get an update today with TWO sketches, don't get greedy on me.

1-8-05
Failed Attempt at Pretty.
Complete as it'll ever get, 40 minutes total.
I used a reference, then I got frustrated with everything so I decided to trash it. I was originally going to post this Saturday, but instead I did the Loser drawing with the cool hands (;) Bebe!). I do the model no justice. She had the most gorgeous hands and arms! ;0; So I went back touched it up a teeny bit, and this is what you get.

1-9-05
Speed Realism Study.
Complete, took about 15, 20 minutes total.
I felt inspired by Becky telling me that the hands I drew were good, so I decided to do something I was good at to get my drawing spirit back! I started in Science with sketching my teacher and three students. Then, after watching an episode of Little Britain, I decided to jump off my bed, study my hands for at least 10 minutes, and post it for y'all. HOORAH FOR DEDICATION. :D

Untitled.
Complete, 9 minutes.
At first I was worried about posting this because it would make me out to seem like a total emo kid, then I remembered that this was the whole reason I drew, so I could feel better. I had gotten frustrated with another drawing after doing a whole day's worth of studying, typing, and writing flashcards so I drew this instead. Definately gave me a sense of relief. Will revisit the other sketch later.

Koigal.
Incomplete, concept still not thoroughly evaluated.
I stole the idea from the DSG idea section of conceptart.org, which is a fab place for inspiration. Don't remember how long she took, yes, she's from last year, but she has never been seen by the public. Concept beneath picture.

Character: Aquatic Humanoid based on a fish.
Various notes read:
-fins on arms appear cape like
-elegant posture
-hairless, duh
-Eyes large and slanted
-nostrils are slits
-full human lips, but wider jaw
-smooth scales create intricate patterns on "skin"
-long, bony fingers
Based on a calico koi fish.

Sketch 3

Wire Tripping: Internet LSD.
Concept incomplete, sketch complete.
I wasn't really thinking about making this look pretty, my main
concerns were trying to figure out how to draw someone sitting down and
how the wires would work and plug into the laptop. A further
description of the idea is underneath the sketch. Took about 30-40
minutes, but like I said, the overall quality isn't my main concern as
I'm hoping I will revisit the concept.

In the year 2037, a nighclub was opened in a back alley of a crowded
city. The main purpose of the club was to bring back rave-style
parties, but without the use of E or other drugs. With technological
advances, a dj at the club developed software that simulated what it
would be like under the influence of ecstacy. However, the actual
feelings induced weren't what ravers wanted. They wanted the high,
hallucinations, as well as a new drug not yet introduced on the market.
Finally, the dj managed to change his program to fit what they
scenesters were interested in. The club opened a back room where
regulars could try it out, and soon offered private rooms where others
could bring their own laptops. The software is downloaded onto the
computer, and a special headset and wire cartridge is required. The
main wire connects to the headset, projecting images onto the
eyeglasses. Two other wires connect to armbands that allow the system
to track the user's pulse and other important information. Another set
of wires have ends that are placed on the skin, are round, and send
small shocks through the body, enhancing the experience. The last set
of wires have one-use needles attatched to the end which send chemicals
and fluids to help guide the body's process of thought, these are not
on the computer catridge and instead come from the chairs and draw from
canisters embedded in the recliner. No illegal substances are used.
When someone starts to overdose, the system shuts down immediately,
which can be dangerous in the middle of a high, but nightclub staff
members regulate the rate at which the public users take in the
simulated drug. Private users are not supervised and are warned to take
in the sensation at their own risk. After only a few years after being
introduced, the nightclub has become increasingly popular and has had
to open another location to please the crowd.

Please note, I do not in any way approve of drugs or "wire tripping".
Luckily for us, it doesn't exist yet. I would also like to say not to
go about sticking needles and wires in you trying to recreate my
concept. That's stupid and I might sue you for stealing my idea.

2nd Sketch

The Dark Pegasus.
Complete, dedicated to Becky.
My first time drawing a horse from the front view, added the wings because, let's face it, I'm in love with winged creatures. Used a reference picture for the lower body, head and neck drawn without a reference. Took about an hour. Absolutely in love with him. <3
